We are excited to have Show & Tell returning to Magic Makers 2018!!
The complexities and nuance of identity is what compels my creative process. The goal of my work is to celebrate and encourage authentic self expression first and foremost. I use fashion as a vehicle to do this and like to work at the intersection of traditional craft and contemporary style. My desire is to create modern, long lasting, statement pieces that encourage folks to reconnect with culture and re/claim identities that have been stripped away or that are often shunned in the mainstream.
I adopted fashion as a tool of self expression, and later resistance, early in life and with my work hope to encourage Black, Brown, and Queer folks to live unapologetically.
My desire is to create modern, long lasting, statement pieces that encourage folks to reconnect with culture and re/claim identities that have been stripped away. The textiles that I work with have beens sourced by my mother over the past 3 decades.
This year I’m excited to continue to expand the product lines I make and offer. My newest addition to the Show & Tell brand is “Mercury Sapphire” apothecary products crafted for home and personal use. The consistent challenge I face is how to explore all of my new ideas and continue to create exciting products while maintaining a robust and healthy life outside of work. Balance is so hard to come by, but also so necessary as a small business owner.
Cant wait to see all of Alyahs offerings on Saturday Dec 1st
