MAKER SPOTLIGHT: LENTIL & STITCH

For the first time at Magic Makers we are happy to introduce you to Verónica Rabelo of Lentil &  Stitch who makes crochet wearables and decorative items — most often replicas of Lenny Kravaitz’ infamous blanket-scarf, hats, scarves, blankets, mason jar cozies, yoga mat bags, and market totes.

I’m a spoonie with fibromyalgia and chronic pain. If I’m not working, then I’m probably resting or recovering. Crocheting is an amazing way to distract myself from pain, stay grounded in the present moment, and feel useful by creating soft and squishy wearables (as well as financial support for amazing social justice causes!)

I’m committed to leveraging my economic privilege to promote social justice. I don’t turn a profit from this shop; I donate at least 100% of every sale to social justice causes, matching donations with my own $ when possible. Crocheting helps heal myself (coping mechanism for chronic pain + fibromyalgia) and communities (via $$$)

I want to see my queer creative community be free from danger, stress, and the hamster wheel of constant hustling! I strive to use my privilege to help others live lives of greater safety, health, and dignity, and my small crochet shop is one way I try to make the world slightly less terrible.

Lentil & Stitch will be selling their cozy knitted projects on  Sunday Dec 2nd!
