Arte Pipirisnais creates unique and one of kind jewelry that is ethically sourced and affordable. “I use natural gemstones for their healing powers, culturally significant symbols, animal spirits, and natural sea shells. I also make wearable art from polymer clay inspired by my own cultural experience and aesthetics as a Queer Xicana Migrant. I recently started to print more of my art work and lino cuts.”
I have been making jewelry in different forms for over 10 years and doing printmaking on and off for the same time. A lot of my orders are from the Bay Area, so I am just really excited to bring my queer Xicana bling to my supporters and always excited to make new connections with folks.
Ultimately, my vision is to be able to make a living from my handmade work. My main project at the moment has been to manage and promote my/our online store. One of the challenges I have faced is to stay consistent and relevant. There are weeks when creating is super smooth and just flows and there are weeks where I either can’t inspire anything or just feel drained from that week before when I gave 110%
As a Queer Xicana working class migrant, my pursuit has been to make things that inspire from my cultural and political identity because I want to make things that make me happy and share them/make them accessible with people that it calls to.
